EASTERN | DESERT | WARE
EXPERIMENT | OUTCOME
Too little temper in the paste has caused this pot (made by David Verity) to fall apart while drying. Cracking is a common problem at all stages of production and especially across flat surfaces. Chemicals in the paste are the likely reason behind the 'spalling' of this pot (made by David Verity).

Expanding water or air during the firing chipped parts of the surface off this pot (made by David Verity). Reduction of organic materials has rendered the decoration on this pot (made by David Verity) almost invisible. Partly also by luck this pot, inspired by the 'spouted bowls' of the Eastern Desert, turned out as intended.
