BARNARD CASTLE
The construction of Barnard Castle, on the bank of the River Tees in County Durham, was started in 1125 by Bernard de Baliol and the castle was named after him. Since the 17th century both the castle and the title Lord Barnard are owned by the Vane family from Ruby Castle in Northumbria.	De bouw van Barnard Castle, aan de rivier de Tees in de provincie Durham, werd begonnen in 1125 door Bernard de Baliol en het kasteel is dan ook naar hem vernoemd. Sinds de 17e eeuw is zowel het kasteel als de titel Lord Barnard in het bezit van de familie Vane, van Ruby Castle in Northumbria.
